DIGITALSPEC Teams Up with Local Charities for Annual Blanket and Food Assembly Drive to Those in Need in D.C.

Fairfax, VA, December 13, 2017DIGITALSPEC, LLC (DSPEC), SBA 8(a)/SDB certified firm, a leading provider of Business Consulting and Technical Solutions and Services kicked off the holiday season with their annual blanket drive and food assembly and going directly to the D.C. communities in need. DSPEC CEO, Charles Daddoo purchased over 300 blankets and meal supplies to provide to specific communities.  DSPEC collaborated with Central Union Mission and Adam’s Men’s Shelter to distribute these supplies directly to those who need them.

Working alongside Central Union Mission (Mission D.C.) in NW DC, led by minister Deborah and the hard work of staff members, DIGITALSPEC managed to help 200 homeless men.  The staff there jumped into action unloading the blankets and 5 boxes of toiletries that DSPEC provided and made this event possible. Together, Mission D.C. and DSPEC employees passed out blankets and the toiletry items to everyone that came by the location.  Part of Mission D.C.’s goal is to help homeless people become productive members of society, and DSPEC saw this first-hand with their dedication to their community.

DSPEC employees gathered at headquarters after regular work hours to assemble 300 sandwiches with extra snacks to be donated to the Adam’s Men’s Shelter in NE D.C. While heading towards the shelter, several homeless people approached the group asking for a blanket or some food.  Those that did not ask, CEO Dr. Charles Dadoo introduced himself to the ones who did not approach us and offered supplies.

At Adam’s Shelter, the men formed a line as DSPEC handed out a bag of food, a water, and a blanket. Some declined to have food and only wanted a blanket while others declined a blanket and insisted on only receiving food. Others told their story, about hoping this was just a temporary lifestyle and gave thanks for making these resources available.

Coordinating with shelters is a lot of work but Mission D.C. and Adam’s Shelter made it possible to play a part in impacting over 500 lives.  DSPEC plans to continue working with both shelters and are already putting together a plan for our next event. With the holiday season in full effect, we hope our story influences other companies and organizations to take part in giving back to their communities as there is no better gift than giving someone your time.
